Personal life: Graduated and new Job!
News from my personal life: I finally graduated in Computer Engineering and got a new job at Instituto Nokia de Tecnologia, leaving LTC-IBM after 2 years of part-time job.
This year I finally graduated! After 5 years of study, many exams and having to learn things that have nothing to do with computers (now I know how to find the Taylor Series that calculate the sin of a complex number, Oh! :-P) now I can be called an Engineer. As an autodidact, programmer since 9, I can say that I was disappointed by this course, that focus on the lower-end personnel… and if you want to know, there is a lot! Many graduated but don’t even know how to do some trival things in C. Shame on them. However I met really good people there, most are my friends and work with me, or I want them to work with me at INdT
And although I didn’t learn much by attending to classes, some teachers pointed interesting areas that I probably would not explore further, even areas that do not relate to computers directly, but are cool anyway.
And in 2006 I’ll join a great team at Instituto Nokia de Tecnologia, to work on Python. Before I enter the university, I already did some web-programming during 1998-2000, most Perl, but later PHP, and after I saw many of the graduated to get jobs to work with this, or other areas that sucks, things that I already did before a 5 years university course. At that time I was really afraid! But then I got a job at LTC-IBM and it was really cool. Here in Brazil LTC jobs were not as great as in other LTC, however it’s much better than “common” jobs here in Brazil, I could afirm that I was satisfied. This last semester, about to graduate, I got really cool proposals, one by IBM, two by Mandriva and one by INdT, the later being the coolest, I accepted! Now I’ll work developing Python (not using python, but hacking the C-Python interpreter)!
